Andy

Contagious energy. Ridiculous enthusiasm. Obsessed with making good things happen. Absolutely no interest in beige.
Hi, I’m Andy.

Who Am I?

I’m endlessly curious about what makes people happy, what makes life feel meaningful and why we’re all so good at postponing the things we desperately want to do until some mythical point called “one day”.

I’m enthusiastic about pretty much everything, excited by far too much, and physically incapable of hearing “What if…” without immediately starting to make a plan in a spreadsheet.

I love adventures, new ideas, and trying things I’m probably terrible at. “Won't it be amazing when…” is basically my favourite way to start a sentence.

How Did I Get Here?

I spent over two decades in the corporate world, building a successful career, collecting sensible achievements and becoming exceptionally good at organising complicated things.

And then, somewhere along the way, I started asking a slightly inconvenient question:

Is this really what life is supposed to be about?

So I started changing things. Some deliberately. Some because life gave me absolutely no choice. And somewhere amongst the spreadsheets, adventures, questionable ideas, enormous life decisions and many, many conversations around our kitchen table, The Joy Bringers was born.

What Will I do For You?

I’ll help you untangle your life, ask you the questions you’ve been avoiding for years, give you a gentle kick up the backside, and probably produce a spreadsheet at some point.

Most of all, I love seeing people go from “maybe one day” to (*said in my most Australian accent*) “right, let’s bloody do this.”

But I’ll also be your biggest cheerleader, remind you what you’re capable of when you forget, bring the energy when yours has temporarily buggered off, get ridiculously excited about your ideas, and make absolutely certain we have a bloody good time along the way.

Rob

Calm energy. Ridiculously kind. Endlessly patient. Considerably less sensible than he first appears.
Hi, I’m Rob.

Who Am I?

I’m the calmer half of The Joy Bringers. Patient, practical, ridiculously kind and generally pretty difficult to faze.

I love solving problems, figuring out how things work and quietly making life easier for the people around me. I’m also considerably less sensible than I first appear and rarely need much convincing when an adventure, questionable idea or opportunity to have some fun presents itself.

I’m happiest with good people, good food, somewhere interesting to explore and absolutely no need to take ourselves too seriously.

How Did I Get Here?

I spent over two decades working in engineering, technology and the corporate world, solving complicated problems, managing risk and generally being the person people called when something needed figuring out.

Then Andy started having ideas...Lots of ideas!

Somewhere between moving countries, changing careers, building a completely different life in the Greek mountains and hearing the words **“What if…”** more times than I can possibly count, our lives started looking very different from the ones we had originally planned.

And I wouldn’t change it.

The Joy Bringers grew out of the life we built together, the lessons we learned along the way and our shared belief that life is far too short to spend most of it waiting for the good bits.

What Will I Do For You?

I’ll be the calm when things feel complicated, the practical voice when you need one and the person quietly making sure everything works so you don’t have to think about it.

I’ll listen without judgement, help you make sense of things when your head is spinning and remind you that sometimes the biggest changes start with one surprisingly small step.

But I’m not just here for the sensible stuff.

I’ll also be cooking, driving, fixing, organising, laughing, joining in with the ridiculousness and almost certainly being talked into something that seemed like a terrible idea five minutes earlier.

Most importantly, I’ll make sure you feel looked after, completely at home and like there’s always someone in your corner.

Our Story

It started with “Is this really it?”. Things escalated quickly.
Like most people, we did everything we were supposed to do.

We built successful careers, worked hard, bought the house, paid the bills and created lives that looked pretty good on paper.

And they were comfortable lives.

But somewhere along the way, a slightly uncomfortable question started creeping in:

“Is this really it?”

Not because everything was terrible. But we started wondering why a successful life so often seemed to involve spending most of your time working, rushing, worrying, planning for later and waiting for that future moment when you finally have enough time to enjoy it.

That's when things escalated quickly.

What actually makes us happy? What matters? What would we do differently if we stopped worrying about what a successful life was *supposed* to look like? And perhaps most dangerously... What if we actually changed it?

Then shit got real.

There were career changes, country changes, enormous decisions, spectacularly questionable ideas, adventures, setbacks, fresh starts and more conversations around the kitchen table than we could ever count.

We certainly didn’t figure out the secret to a perfect life. But we did learn something much more useful: a joyful life doesn’t just happen to you. You build it.

Little by little, we created more space for the things that mattered, rediscovered parts of ourselves we’d forgotten about, tried things we were terrible at, went places we’d always talked about going and became increasingly unwilling to save the good bits of life for “one day”.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, The Joy Bringers began to take shape.

Not as a retreat company dreamed up in a business plan, but as a way of sharing everything our own journey had taught us: practical change, more possibility, more adventure, more connection and a whole lot more joy.

We built a life we didn’t need to escape from. Now we want to help you do it too.

Our Home

This isn’t a venue. Come in, kick off your shoes. You’re home.
Hidden away in the mountains just outside Patras is a slightly ridiculous three-storey house surrounded by nature, big views and more places to sit than any two people could reasonably need.

And it’s our home.

Not a hotel. Not a retreat centre. Not somewhere we hired because it looked lovely in photographs. We actually live here, and when you come to stay, we want you to feel like you do too.

There are balconies for morning coffees, hammocks for disappearing with a book, a pool for very unserious swimming, a pizza oven and BBQ for long lunches that accidentally become dinners, and enough games, movies, karaoke and general nonsense to ensure boredom never really gets a look-in.

But the best thing about our home isn’t the house.

It’s how you will feel in it.

Raid the snacks. Curl up on the sofa. Wander around in your pyjamas. Find your favourite chair. Laugh too loudly. Stay at the dinner table far longer than planned.

Because for one wonderful week, this is your home too.

Location

Just outside Patras, Greece. Approximately 10 minutes from the nearest beaches, 30 minutes from the city centre and 15 minutes from our favourite restaurant.

The Good Stuff

  • Relax: Pool, hammocks, sun loungers, balconies and plenty of outdoor space.

  • Play: Pool table, darts, foosball, karaoke, games and indoor/outdoor cinemas.

  • Eat: BBQ, pizza oven and plenty of places for long, lazy meals.

  • Unwind: Mini library, comfy chairs and quiet corners to disappear into.

Come as you are. Join in when you feel like it, take time for yourself when you need it, and make yourself completely at home.
